The NPA Enforces New Regulations Intensely against Drunk Driving
To show the great determination to prevent traffic accidents caused by driving under the influence (DUI), the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, enacted on July 1 2019, was amended to raise penalty on DUI.
Except planning nationwide DUI crackdown tasks from July 1 to 3 2019, the NPA required that all police departments should devise crackdown operations, including intensive patrol and strict inspection, on their own and deploy their forces more flexibly at hot spots and during certain periods of time when drivers are prone to drunk driving.
For the purpose of preventing any traffic accident and protecting people’s lives effectively, the NPA increased the intensity and frequency of crackdown tasks, especially conducting roadside check on the vehicles with obvious signs of driven by drunk drivers.
